OPENING SPEECH

The 3rd ICMMEd 2025

Dear Participants,

Greetings from Ambon, Maluku, Indonesia.

We are delighted welcoming you to the third International Conference on Mathematics and Mathematics Education 2025 (the 3rd ICMMEd 2025). Current days situation have shown that the using of digital tools such as Artificial Intelligence that increasingly massive around the world have impacted on education in positive as well as negative ways. The era of digitalisation, in one way, has created students as independent learners which have abilities to understand problems in high level and critical thinking. On the contrary, this situation also put them in instant behaviour which depend most on the use of digital tools to solve problems without using and maintaining their cognitive skills. To deal with this reality, teachers and educators need to implement the effective approaches and strategies in teaching and learning Mathematics.

One of the approaches that has been initiated to apply in some countries including Indonesia is Deep Learning. A Deep learning approach focuses not only on the ability to apply knowledge in real-world contexts but also moving beyond rote memorization to cultivate life long learners. Based on the core of deep learning, the theme of this conference is “Deep Learning Approach In The Era of Digitalisation To Strengthen Students’ Mathematical Abilities.”

Following the theme, the topics that developed are:

The keynote speakers that will participate are Latrenda Knighten, BA., M.Ed (President of NCTM, USA), Assoc. Prof. Choy Ban Heng, Ph.D (Nanyang Technological University, Singapore), Assoc. Prof. Kin Eng Chin, Ph.D (Murdoch University, Australia), Assoc. Prof. Dr.rer.nat. Adi Nur Cahyono (Universitas Negeri Semarang, Indonesia). They are the prominent scientists in their field of expertise for years and have been well known globally.
Hopefully, through this conference there are ideas and information can be exchanged, a lot of innovation will be shared, collaboration as well as networks can be built in order to enrich the horizon of Mathematics and Mathematics Education.

We are looking forward to your participation. Have a good conference!

Best regards,
